What are the advantages of planetary gear reducer?

The mass transmission ratio of a planetary gearbox depends on the arrangement of its internal components and the size of the gears. Generally speaking, the transmission ratio of planetary gearbox can be calculated by the following formula:

where $I $is the transmission ratio,$R$ is the radius of the ring gear, and $r$ is the radius of the planet gear.

The transmission ratio of the planetary gearbox can be positive, negative or a fraction greater than 1. A positive gear ratio means that the output speed and torque are in the same direction as the input speed and torque, but with reduced speed and increased torque. A negative gear ratio means that the output speed and torque are in the opposite direction to the input speed and torque. A fractional gear ratio greater than 1 means that the output speed is faster than the input speed, but the torque is reduced.

It should be noted that the actual transmission ratio of the planetary gearbox may be affected by factors such as friction, gear clearance and mechanical losses. Therefore, in practical applications, the transmission ratio may deviate slightly.
